Exotic Imports - More Than Just Comedy
Exotic Imports is more than just a Comedy Show, it
is a comic movement! Each show brings a cross-cultural examination of a true
American "melting pot" in order to cultivate community understanding about
conventional cultural conflicts. Exotic Imports Comedy Show features amazing
entertainers, all 2nd generation Americans coming from diverse
cultural backgrounds. These entertainers are multifaceted comedians, who will
bring a night of side-splitting laughter and insight into the idiosyncrasies,
hilarity, and occasional heartbreak of being a "minority" in America.
It was a packed house in the main room of the Comedy
Store on Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at 8pm. Exotic
Imports Comedy featured Max Amini, Felipe Esparza, Eliot Chang, and Esau Mcgraw
with a guest comic Brian Swinehart. The event benefited
YouthActionNet.org and
the pre show was sponsored by Angelino Designer Clothing by Alex Angelino
(Angelino.us).
People in the audience were impressed by the quality
of the show. It started with a very entertaining pre-show dance number
sponsored by Angelino.us.
Angelino’s "urban sexy" clothing were very well
represented by models and break dancers choreographed by Sweeney Mae. It was a
unique show. Instead of the usual runway fashion show, Angelino took a
different approach and it showed how versatile his clothing line is. Angelino
also handpicked all of the dancers and models that performed. There were
dancers who were seen from America’s Best Dance Crew and others who have been
in dance movies like You Got Served. Needless to say, the people were bopping
their heads and cheering for all the flips, head spins, amazing footwork, and
dance moves that were seen on stage for the pre show.
Then the show continued with Esau Mcgraw, who has a
very impressive resume of having opened for Martin Lawrence’s 1st
Amendment show, seen on BET, Def Comedy Jam, and Comic View, and he is a
regular host of the Chocolate Sundaes Show at the Laugh Factory. Then Felipe
Esparza, who is one of the best Latino comedians in the business, has been
featured on Premium Blend, Latino 101 and Comics Unleashed. Eliot Chang has been
seen on Chelsea Lately, Comedy Central’s Premium Blend, and ShowTime. And
finally, Max Amini, a very well respected comedian and entrepreneur who has
been on Comedy Central, ShowTime, Axis of Evil, and NBC closed the show with
his set, followed by a raffle draw where audience won tickets to the next show,
bottle of wine and champagne, and a few Angelino merchandise.
Exotic Imports is a high quality and organized show that
will be touring nationally. Their next show is currently scheduled in
Washington DC on June 11th and 12th. Future plans include
a show in Fullerton, Irvine, San Diego, Atlanta, Montreal (Canada) and more! For
